Type: dev/misc
Version: 0.9.46
Requires: RTG (CGX/P96), 68060 + 128MB RAM, AmiSSL 5.27
Architecture: m68k-amigaos
Distribution: Aminet
URL: https://tucan.amlang.net

Tucan Studio is an expandable and customizable source code editor
for AmigaOS, inspired by VS Code. It runs on an RTG screen and
provides a file tree, tabbed syntax-highlighted editor, a menu
strip and an extensible right-hand tool sidebar.

Built-in tools include a Markdown preview, an Aminet browser,
a git sidebar and an extensions manager, plus an optional
AI agent (OpenAI and Anthropic built in, Google available as
an extension). Online tools (AI Agent, Aminet, git) talk directly
over TCP/TLS and need AmiSSL 5.27 installed.

Requires a CyberGraphX- or Picasso96-driven RTG screen
(cybergraphics.library v40). Built for modern Amiga hardware,
not original specs: 68060/100MHz with 128MB RAM as a minimum,
PiStorm/Emu68 with 1GB recommended. See tucanstudio.txt in
the archive for setup and the current feature set.

STATUS
This is an experimental application in an alpha stage. Expect
rough edges, missing features and the occasional crash; keep
backups of anything you edit with it. Use at your own risk.

INSTALLATION
Unpack the archive and double-click the Install icon in the
tucanstudio drawer. The Installer copies the program to a
location of your choice and sets up the tucan: assign at boot.
Then start TucanStudio from its drawer. Online tools also need
AmiSSL 5.27 or later installed.

NEW IN 0.9.46
- Line numbers in the editor's left gutter
- Optional soft wrap for long lines (Settings > Editor); the line
number stays on the first row of a wrapped line
- Git: switch branches, create a branch and merge from the sidebar,
with an abort for a merge that stops on conflicts; open files are
re-read after a checkout or merge, and the footer shows the branch
- Diffs mark removals in red and additions in green, and the commit
box sits directly under the staged files
- Extensions can add their own tabs to the tool sidebar
- Terminal: output from tools such as make and gcc now reaches the
panel in full, including their error messages
- The workspace remembers which files were open

NEW IN 0.9
- Settings > Paths: your own search directories for the tools
the studio runs, also passed on to programs it starts
- Chat: conversations stored in chunks, older parts loaded on
demand; the AI agent can download files to your Download path
- Scrollable file tab bar, and a scrollable Welcome tab
- Shift+Tab moves focus backwards in forms and dialogs
- The Ctrl+B / Shift text-selection setting applies to every
text input, not only the editor
- Extension manager
- Support for Google AI and Anthropic AI
- Workspace templates with custom menus etc.
